In an era in which we all make videos, Abanca and Real Club Deportivo de La Coruña decided to make something. More specifically, a foosball table.
And that should be highlighted.
The most human foosball table (Abanca Depor).
After several years of suffering, Depor has just taken a big step towards their former glory with the promotion of the men's football team to La Liga Hypermotion, A. K. A. Second Division.
But not only the boys have reached their goal. The women's team has achieved a magnificent promotion to La Liga F (or First Division) and, to celebrate, Abanca has decided to create a foosball table with the twenty-two players who won the promotion. It's probably not the first one with women footballers, but it's definitely one of them.
A bit of context.
Abanca is a Spanish bank with origins, like Deportivo, in Galicia. But the link with the club goes far beyond the locality: a few months ago Abanca became the owner of 99.99% of the club and gives its name to the women's team (Abanca Depor).
So, although the foosball table seems to be more of a branding action than a sponsorship activation, in this case it doesn't matter a whole lot because the sponsor and the club are one.
The downside.
The objective is to distribute the foosball tables in bars, clubs and offices all over A Coruña as a way for people to become familiar with the players. The problem is that, according to Reason Why, only ten have been produced. Even if the creative agency, the club president and the bank manager don't get any, they are still too few.
Abanca says it will produce more. Hopefully they will, and then, for example, they can send them out to old glories of the club to raise more awareness.
