We continue with the Cannes Lions winners week and, I'm not going to lie, Tuesday starts off weak. But then it picks up. Still worth subscribing.
Drinkable Anthem (Bock).
The first idea comes from the land of Nations League champions and, as I anticipated in the preface, I didn't particularly like it. From the results they show it made a lot of noise, but they had to start giving away beer like crazy, which detracts from an idea that I don't think is particularly creative either. But it won a bronze in Direct and here it is.
The Lucky Sponsor (Schneider).
From the land of Nations League champions we move to the land of world champions with another beer brand that wants to play on national pride.
But they do it with sense of humour, insights and without giving away a drop of beer.
The silverware, however, is the same: a bronze in Media.
Sponsored balls (Testicular Cancer Society).
It takes balls to do this idea. Interestingly, it's the second idea we've seen this week that puts the creativity into finding new spaces for sponsorship.
The prize is a bronze in PR.
Snickers AI (Snickers).
The legendary American chocolate Snickers gives a football twist to its “'you're not you when you're hungry”' concept with the presence of the Special One, Jose Mourinho.
When I started working in advertising, every time we did a customisable video campaign we had to record the protagonist saying hundreds of names one by one. Luckily, at that time there weren't so many weird names.
Today, this kind of ideas still exist, but they are made by an artificial intelligence and are awarded with a bronze in the Social&Creator category.
Haaland payback time (Clash of Clans).
After four ideas that won a bronze, it was time to close with one that had a more precious metal. Or several.
And so we find this idea for Clash of Clans, which takes advantage of Erling Braut Haaland's popularity. But nothing about playing with Haaland or being on his team. The goal here is to destroy the Manchester City 9, because nothing moves like hate.
The metals? Grand Prix in Entertainment Lion for Sport, gold in Entertainment, silver in Entertainment Lion for Sport and Brand Experience & Activation and bronze in Entertainment Lion for Gaming.
